Director

David Topolovec has been Director of Orchestras at Wauwatosa West High School since 1981. Under his leadership the orchestra program has grown from an enrollment of 8 students to over 85 in two orchestras. The orchestras have been a featured four times over the last 15 years at Wisconsin State Music Teachers Conferences as well as receiving awards at music festivals throughout the country. Mr. Topolovec received his Bachelors Degree in Music Education from UW-Milwaukee in 1979. In addition, he has studied conducting with Margery Deutsch at UW- Milwaukee, David Becker at the National String Workshop, and with Marvin Rabin and Robert Culver at the International Workshop for Strings in Exeter, England. He has been active as both a District and State adjudicator in strings for the Wisconsin School Music Association and is currently President-Elect of the Wisconsin chapter of the American String Teachers Association. Mr. Topolovec has over 30 years experience in performing on string and keyboard instruments in a variety of musical genres.
