Fundraising

The Wauwatosa West Orchestra has fundraising activities in two general areas: for the general orchestra fund and for individual student accounts. All fundraised money is accepted as a donation to the Wauwatosa West Orchestra Parents and will be used, in accordance with District policy, to promote the educational and co-curricular activities of the Wauwatosa West Orchestra. Participation in any fundraising activity is voluntary.

Fundraised money for individual student accounts will be encumbered for that student's use while they are in orchestra. Any money remaining in a student's account at the time they graduate or leave orchestra will revert to the general account of the Wauwatosa West Orchestra Parents. This money may remain encumbered and used by that student's sibling as long as that sibling is currently an orchestra/band student at Wauwatosa West or will be in the fall of the next academic year. If the sibling is/will be a band student, the encumbered money may be used for any joint (Orchestra/Band) trips. Fundraised money will not be transferred to any other West High School educational or co-curricular activity or group.

General Orchestra Fund

The general orchestra fund pays for items such as:

• Solo/ensemble fees for all sudents
• Awards, letters, and medals at the end of the year
• Senior dinner
• Fees for All-City String Concert
• Scholarships for summer orchestra camps
• Special equipment for the orchestra room (e.g., cello cases, stereo equipment, stand lights, computer printer, etc.)
• Concert programs
• And much more! (e.g., postage for parent mailings, tuxedo cleaning, orchestra dress replacement, Pro Arte String Quartet)

You can help raise money for the general orchestra fund in these ways:

Concession Stand Volunteers help at the concession stand during football season!

Shop at Pick 'N Save and designate #921520 as your code choice for the We Care program (see below).

Become a Friend of the Orchestra.

Solicit corporate sponsorships or business donations.

The Orchestra participates in the We Care Program at Pick 'n Save Stores. Each time you shop at Pick 'n Save and use your Advantage Plus Savers Card, the Orchestra will receive a cash rebate. Our account number is 921520. Please stop at the Service Desk next time you are in a Pick 'n Save store and complete a form designating the Orchestra as one of the groups (you can list up to three) for your Savers Card. The more you use your card, the more money the Orchestra will receive. Easy way to contribute to the Orchestra Program without doing anything other than buying groceries - costs you nothing. Individual Student Account Fundraising

All members of the orchestra are given the opportunity throughout the year to raise funds for individual student accounts. These accounts help fund extended study trips. The next trip TO CHINA, is scheduled for spring break 2008!! Please contact our fundraising chair Mark Picard (778-0168) or President Nancy Nushart (771-7504) for information on current and upcoming opportunities to raise funds for your student's trip account.

Scrip

Scrip is an easy way to raise funds for a student's account. You purchase gift cards from Kohl's department store or Pick 'n Save food stores and pay the face value of the card. The Wauwatosa West Orchestra Parents purchase these cards at a discounted rate. That discount goes directly into your student's account. There is no selling door to door. You purchase only the scrip you want.
