High School offers 2 courses for string players.
Both courses are 1 year, 1 credit courses.
Symphony
Orchestra
The
Symphony Orchestra will include all 11th and 12th grade orchestra students.
Symphony Orchestra students will have the opportunity to study some
of the more advanced string orchestra literature available as well
as standard symphonic orchestra repertoire. Emphasis will be placed
on polished performance. Students will be required to participate in
the WSMA Solo-Ensemble Festival.
Concert
Orchestra
The
Concert Orchestra consists of 9th and 10th grade orchestra students.
This orchestra will study Class A String Orchestra literature. The
emphasis will be on production of sound and the acquisition of technical
skills. Pieces will be selected based on the needs and experience of
the group. Students will have the opportunity to develop leadership
and solo skills. Students will be required to participate in the WSMA
Solo-Ensemble Festival.
